I Want to Make a Change

Why Lord? Why is there so much hurt and suffering in this life? Why am I living every day without a care in the world while millions of other precious human beings are struggling daily. Struggling to find some food to fill their bellies or a place to lay their head. Struggling to have hope. I don't understand Your plans Lord. I just don't understand. But I do know that I want to make a change. I want to live life to the fullest, loving Your precious lambs because You loved me first. I want to share Your joy, peace, and love with this entire world. Lord, thank you for giving me the opportunity to start that by leading me to sponsor a child through Compassion international. I am so blessed to be able to impact this child's life, giving out of the abundance that I have been blessed with. Thank You Lord. May all of Your children experience the joy that comes from giving joy to others.

If you would like to help make a change, please consider sponsoring a child through Compassion International. The joy that comes will not soon be taken away.

You are WANTED

"From the day you were born
And took your first breath
You opened your eyes and in came the light
He was watching you
But all of your life you couldn't shake the lies in your head
Saying you're a mistake
Oh but you were made
By a God who knows your name
He doesn't make mistakes

You are wanted
To every broken heart, He stands with open arms
You are wanted
To every searching soul, look to the rising sun
If you're lonely, hurting, gone too far
To the outcast you come as you are
For you, you are wanted, you, you are wanted
You, you are wanted, you, you are wanted

Let this be the day that joy takes the place
Of all of the years that shame tried to steal away
He is calling you
Lift your eyes to see His face
Come run into the arms of grace

You, you have been marked
You're set apart
And He calls you His
So you don't have to search
Don't have to look for where you belong

You are wanted"

A Letter of Love

I got my first letter from my sponsored child last Thursday.

I was so excited that I ran upstairs to my room and opened it right away.

Even though the message was very simple and brief, the thought of it and the small drawings at the bottom were just so sweet that it actually brought tears to my eyes.

Knowing that that precious little boy drew those pictures just for me makes me smile even now.

Even though I've never actually met him or talked to him in person, I love him so much.

I can't even imagine how much more my Heavenly Father loves him since He knows every single thing about him.

That is why God's heart is broken when He looks down and sees His precious children without water, without food, without a home, without a family.

Without HOPE. Without LOVE.

Compassion is a way that YOU can give a child love and hope even today.

The Rains

"Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me."       -Matthew 25:40

There's a thunderstorm outside.

I'm sitting inside my house, but I might as well be outside- I'm getting just as wet.

The tin plates and thin slabs of wood that make up our roof are so poorly held on that the rain can easily come in the cracks.

The only thing good about this rain is that it gives me the first shower that I've had in 3 weeks.

I head outside to check on the cooking ware that's scattered all over our yard.

We use our cups, plates, pots, pans- anything that we can find to catch the rain water.

We'll use that water for drinking, because it's the cleanest water we've had all week.

I'm so thankful to God for sending the rains so that we can have water and our crops can grow.

When you take a shower or wash your hands, do you ever stop to be grateful for the clean, filtered water that you know will come out?

Did you know that 400 million precious children around the world have no access to safe water?

Do you ever take the time to realize how blessed you are? Do you wish to bless others as well?

You can do that through Compassion International.

You can bless a child with a proper home, clean water, adequate food, education, and the chance to hear about the hope they have in Jesus Christ.

Don't wait; You can bless a child today by clicking on the link below.

A Quote on Poverty

"Poverty is not necessarily an issue to solve; it is an opportunity to serve. As we go through each day, our heart's cry should be, Lord, where would you have me give, serve, and invest myself to bring hope to the poor?" -Orphan Justice author, Johnny Carr

Everywhere we look there is poverty, which means that everywhere we look is an opportunity to serve. An opportunity to serve God and our fellow human beings.

Where there is poverty, there is a chance to give. There is a chance to serve. And there is a chance to love.

We can bring glory to God by serving others who are less fortunate than us. We can glorify Him by sharing what we have with precious children who have nothing. And we can show our love for Him by loving others.

You may be thinking, "Lord, where would you have me give, serve, and invest, myself to bring hope to the poor?"

Why not by sponsoring a child through Compassion International? You can change a life. And you can change it today.

Bringing Hope to the Hopeless

Out of the 2.2 billion children in the world, 1 billion live in poverty.

Out of the 1.9 billion children in the developing world, 640 million (1 in 3) live without adequate shelter, 400 million (1 in 5) have no access to safe water, and 270 million (1 in 7) have no access to health services.

These are the facts. This is reality. This is the result of sin and corruption. This situation seems hopeless.

However, it is NOT hopeless.

It is not hopeless because God gives them hope. There is hope for a better tomorrow and a brighter future.

You can be the person that God uses to bring hope to these precious children.

Through Compassion International, you can bring hope. You can give one child access to clean water. You can give one child access to proper health care. You can provide one child with a proper home.

If you can bring hope to one child, you can bring hope to the world.

Sponsor a child today! The hope that you will give them is eternal- hope for eternal life with God, where there is no more poverty, suffering, or pain.

The Story Behind the Picture

compassion-blog-month-boy-in-africa

My name is Chari, and I am 5 years old.

Today has been a long day. I have been out in the village since before the sun came up, looking for odd jobs that I could do in order to buy food for my 3 little sisters.

My father and mother are both working in the city that is about 5 miles away. They work hard to try to buy food and clothes for me and my sisters, but since the city is too far away, they have to stay there and can only come back on weekends.

I miss them.

Since I am the oldest, I must provide for my sisters and my grandfather, who is 78 years old and blind, while my parents are away.

Today has been an unusually cold day. That is why my grandfather is letting me use his sweatshirt. He has had this sweatshirt since he was a boy, so it is tattered and worn.

I am very grateful to my grandfather for being so generous to me and letting me use it. I like the feel of the long sleeves, since it is the only long sleeve shirt that I have ever had.

Even though the sleeves are too long and the shirt is too big, this sweatshirt makes me feel loved. I feel as if I am being hugged constantly. It is so comforting.

Just think how much Chari would love to have a NEW sweatshirt. One that isn't tattered and worn and bug infested.

You can be the one who provides Chari with a new sweatshirt. And you can give his sisters and grandfather all new ones as well.

You can give him food and clean water and an education as well.

Chari is a precious boy and deserves to feel loved. And having a new sweatshirt is just one way that you can show him love. Your love and God's love.

You may be wondering, "How can I show love to a child like Chari in this way?"

By sponsoring a child through Compassion.

Don't wait another day. Bless a child, show a child your love. And by this, you will be showing God's love as well.
